Remark at the Function to send off Sivapoomi Children who participate at the Paralympics.

Mr. Natarajan, the CG said that any medal brought by the golden children is a gold medal at a function to send off Sivapoomi children to Paralympics. He made this remarks at the function held at Jaffna Sivapooimi School for the mentally retarded children. The children will participate at the Paralympics to be held in the USA on the 26th of this month. Arasakulasooriyar Mayooran and Jeyachandran Manojan of this school will participate in this international Paralympics. There was a function to send them off to the USA yesterday at the Sivapoomi school. Mr.A.Natarajan, the CG of India in Jaffna was the special guest of the function.  The following is an excerpt of the speech by him.

We congratulate the children who win medals at the sports meets in schools. We consider the sportsmanship of being a participant in any sports as an appreciable event.

The participation of these two special children of God who would travel abroad to take part in the International Paralympics is not an ordinary matter. This is a very great achievement. The Northern and the Eastern Provinces have been affected by the long protruded war. The participation at the Paralympics held in America is a Himalayan achievement. The principal, teachers, and the coaches must be duly respected for this. All the children of this school should be able to do similar activities and achieve. These children have special abilities, and we should not ignore them as deaf or blind people. When they come back, they will bring medals with them. Whatever the medal they bring, we should consider them as Gold medals. They should be great not only in sports but also in studies. They must be given necessary support and assistance.
